Galaxy S5 ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

There has been a movement sweeping across the United States as of late (and in some parts of the globe, too), that sees individuals putting themselves under a bucket of water filled with ice. It’s designed to raise awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, and it has indeed raised quite a bit of money throughout this stretch of awareness.

While many people have donated money, even more people have put themselves in front of a camera and dumped a bucket of ice water over themselves — or had a friend dump it on them. The movement has seen awareness raised by athletes, tech CEOS and pretty much everyone in between. That includes people like Bill Gates, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, and even Apple’s Tim Cook.

The Ice Bucket Challenge is even a Halloween costume now.

Samsung apparently wanted to jump in on the fun, and at the same time completely miss the point of the movement. (In all seriousness, many, many people have missed the point, but Samsung shouldn’t make the same mistake.) They’ve set up the Galaxy S5 to do the Ice Bucket Challenge, in an attempt to showcase the device’s water resistant features. At the same time, Samsung “challenges” Apple’s iPhone 5s, HTC’s One (M8) and Nokia’s Lumia 930.

We are calling out all of our followers for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Our Galaxy S5 just did it for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. Donate here www.mndassociation.org.

The Ice Bucket Challenge started on July 29, and since then the effort has helped to raise more than $4 million. You can watch the video below. You can also head through the ALS source link below to donate what you can to help the cause.
