A few months ago, news surfaced that Samsung had allegedly hired college going students to bad mouth about the HTC One and praise the Galaxy S4 on various Internet forums.

The culprit behind this nasty ‘marketing’ campaign was the Taiwanese division of Samsung mobile, which has been dutifully fined by the Taiwanese Fair Trade Commission. The commission also charged two other smaller marketing companies who were a part of this campaign.

While Samsung had to pay $340,000, the other two companies had to pay a much smaller amount. Samsung was also fined by the Taiwanese FTC earlier this year for falsely advertising the camera functions of one of the Galaxy Y Duos.
