Samsung today announced that it will implement a new Android security update process to quickly roll out important security patches to its devices after a security vulnerability is discovered. The company plans on rolling out these security updates “about once per month.”

Samsung claims that it managed to quickly roll out security updates for its Galaxy device to fix the Stagefright security issue by working closely with carriers and partners.

“With the recent security issues, we have been rethinking the approach to getting security updates to our devices in a more timely manner. Since software is constantly exploited in new ways, developing a fast response process to deliver security patches to our devices is critical to keep them protected. We believe that this new process will vastly improve the security of our devices and will aim to provide the best mobile experience possible for our users.” said Dong Jin Koh, Executive Vice President and Head of Mobile Research and Development Office, IT & Mobile Communications at Samsung Electronics.

Samsung says that it is currently in talks with carriers from across the world to implement this new security update process. It will be providing more details about the software update release timeline for its specific models soon.
