Reiterating previous reports, a Samsung executive once again confirmed to local Korean media outlets that sales of Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge have exceeded the company’s expectations.
Ko Dong-jin, head of Samsung’s mobile division, told local Korean reports that “Samsung is satisfied to see good sales of Galaxy S7” and that the “initial shipment numbers are looking good.”
Samsung executives have previously also revealed to media that the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge have been received well by the market, though none of them have revealed the exact shipment numbers of the handset.
Analysts have predicted that the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge have been received well by consumers in Europe, China and India, with pre-orders in Europe seeing a staggering 250 percent increase.
Over the last couple of years, Samsung has seen its market share eroded by various Chinese OEMs in market like China and India despite coming out with phones like the Galaxy S6 and the Note 5.
Compared to previous years, Samsung is aggressively promoting the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge in various markets of the world. In certain markets, the company has not only priced the handset lower than their predecessors, but is also bundling a free Gear VR with them that further sweetens the deal.
