Earlier this month, Stefan reported about a Galaxy S3 exploding and causing the female owner some serious burns. Thanks to all the media coverage, Samsung took an action and took the exploded S3 from the girl for investigation purposes.

Today, Samsung has posted its official statement about this matter. The company says that according to its investigation, the battery used in the Galaxy S3 “was not supplied or manufactured by Samsung or a company authorized by Samsung.”

Samsung’s results were also confirmed by EMPA Materials Science and Technology, which stated that the battery used in the device was not supplied by Samsung or a third-party authorized by Samsung.

So, the moral of the story is that one should stay away from those after-market batteries that offer high-capacity in the same package for one-third of the price of the original battery.
