Samsung is widely expected to unveil the hugely anticipated Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge Plus at the event. The event invite also seems to indicate that a device with a dual edge screen will be unveiled at the event.

Samsung has traditionally unveiled new Galaxy Note at the IFA trade show in Berlin. But as rumored it seems to have brought forward the launch in an effort to secure sales before Apple announces its next generation iPhones in September.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were unveiled just weeks after the Galaxy Note 4 last year, and they’ve become Apple’s most successful devices to date. The company has seen an unprecedented number of people switching from Android, and Samsung — along with others — have seen sales fall.

Samsung hopes that by launching the Note 5 early this year, it can avoid a repeat of that.

The event will be held at the Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center in New York. The event kicks off at 11:00 am EDT.

Samsung will be live streaming the event on its YouTube channel. As always, we will bring you the latest coverage for the event so don’t forget to visit Android Beat on August 13.

We can’t wait to see what Samsung has in store for us. Are you excited?
