The Samsung fan site SamMobile, which has an excellent track record when it comes to rumors, says the South Korean company is going to announce a large tablet later this year that uses AMOLED technology. By large they mean either 10.1 inches or 11.6 inches, the size hasn’t been determined yet. Said display will have a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels, otherwise known as FullHD.

Will consumers care? I’m going to call it now and say no. The Android tablets people are flocking towards are small 7 inch and 8 inch models that can be had for anywhere between $99 and $299. The only tablets worth buying that cost more than that are made by Apple. Sorry, but it’s true. You know it, I know it, the world knows it.

The “premium Android tablet” space, as far as I’m concerned, doesn’t even exist.

Update: Eldar Murtazin, the Editor in Chief of Mobile-Review, read this article and tweeted that the tablet in question will have an 8 inch screen, not a 10.1 inch or 11.6 inch screen. He’s also an extremely reliable source, and in this case I’m going to trust him more than SamMobile, but either way, the best thing you can do now is wait.
