Soon after Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge last week, its president Shin Jong-kyun revealed that pre-orders for the devices have already started “pouring in.” Now, a report from the Korea Times claims that Samsung has already received a total cumulative pre-order of 20 million units for the devices.
Out of this, the Galaxy S6 received 15 million pre-orders while the Galaxy S6 edge received the remaining five million orders from “mobile carriers.”
“Samsung received some 20 million pre-orders for the S6 and S6 Edge _ 15 million of S6 and five million of the S6 Edge from mobile carriers, worldwide. This is the record,” a top executive at a leading mobile carrier in Europe told The Korea Times last week at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) expo in Barcelona.
The pre-order number includes orders that Samsung has received from network operators from across the world, as well as direct pre-orders from consumers from regions where the new Galaxies are already available for pre-order.
Samsung expects the Galaxy S6 to outsell its predecessor, the Galaxy S5, as well as the Galaxy S4 — its best selling flagship handset yet.
