HTC’s “Butterfly” brand may not be popular outside of Asia, but that doesn’t mean it’s not special. The first Butterfly, launched about a year ago, was the first phone with a 1080p screen. It launched in Japan, then Taiwan, and then eventually showed up on Verizon’s network in the United States as the Droid DNA. The sequel, the Butterfly s, took the best features of the One (BoomSound and UltraPixel) and paired them up with a larger 5.0 inch screen and an absolutely gargantuan 3200 mAh battery. That’s the same size battery in the Note 3!
Now, courtesy of the Taiwanese site ePrice, there are rumors about a Butterfly II. Never mind that it’s technically the third Butterfly, let’s get to the specs: 5.2 inch 1080p display. Hopefully it’s the same one that’s in the LG G2, which everyone says is the best smartphone screen to ever be released. Snapdragon 800, which is obvious given that’s what all the flagship phones use today. And finally, it’s supposed to be waterproof, like all of Sony’s phones.
No word on the camera, no word on the speakers, no word on the battery, but that’s all expected to come at some point in late January 2014. That sounds a long ways off, but it’s only about 100 days.
