We all know that Samsung is going to hold a press conference on September 4th in Berlin. That’s less than three weeks away. Most people, myself included, predict that Samsung will announce the third generation Galaxy Note at this event because the Korean company has held similar events during similar times to announce the previous two Notes.

But what else does the company have up their sleeves?

According to SamMobile, who has a spot on track record when it comes to rumors, Samsung will also unveil the “Galaxy Gear” at this event. What is the Gear? It’s the company first smart watch. Very little is known about this device, and while SamMobile links to a Samsung patent for potential clues as to how the Gear might look like, I have a gut feeling it’s going to be far more simple, ugly even.

Should you be excited about the Gear? Yes and no. Samsung is a company that loves to try new things. The Galaxy Note and Galaxy Camera are perfect examples. However, both of those devices, when first announced, received a ton of negative feedback, and it was only with the second generation that they really shined.

Personally, without knowing anything about the Gear, I’m already looking forward to Gear II.

Update: Confirmation about the September 4th unveiling from Bloomberg.
