The Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 and 6.3 have been successful so far, especially in developing markets where phablets do pretty well. And to further leverage the demand, the company is expected to launch successors of the Galaxy Mega series very shortly.
The exact timeframe of the launch isn’t known, but SamMobile has confirmed that the smartphones could be running the Exynos 5260 hexa-core chipset which uses a combination of quad core and dual core CPUs. We’ve seen this being used on the Galaxy Note 3 Neo earlier this year.
The rumor further states that the devices will run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and will most likely feature the same display sizes as well, considering that they are already too big to begin with.
The display resolution could be bumped up though, especially for the 5.8 inch model as it currently has a 960 x 540 panel. Hopefully, Samsung will add a 720p display this time around. As with any rumor, we suggest you take this with a pinch of salt until there’s solid evidence coming through from Samsung.
The original Galaxy Mega was launched back in April 2013, so maybe we can expect the announcement of these new devices in the coming weeks.
