LG’s flagship smartphone for the second half of 2013, the G2, is an outstanding piece of technology. I’ve been playing with one for the past five days or so, and I can’t put it down. The screen is tack sharp, the battery never dies, and the camera is one of the best I’ve seen on an Android device. But for some people none of that matters because the phone is just too big.

Well, LG has thought of that, and they’ll soon have a solution.

According to the Greek website TechBlog, who has been accurate with rumors in the past, LG is going to unveil a G2 mini at CES next month. The G2 mini will have the exact same specs as the big G2, including the 1080p display, except that said display will be shrunk down from 5.2 inches to 4.7 inches. Yes, you read that right. Same Snapdragon 800, same 2 GB of RAM, same 13 megapixel camera with optical image stabilization, same 1080p screen resolution. The battery will obviously have to be smaller, but there’s no word as to how small.

Should you wait to buy the G2 mini? I want to say yes, but I just can’t help but think of another phone that’s out on the market with a 4.7 inch display that’s getting a whole bunch of love from the tech press: Motorola’s Moto X. It may be a little hard to find right now due to the recent sale, but if you want a small Android phone with amazing software that’ll get updated frequently, Motorola’s got your back.
