After disrupting the telecom industry by making voice calls free and offering three months of unlimited data to all its customers until December 31st as a part of its Welcome Offer, Reliance has now announced that it will be extending its free data offer to its subscribers until 31st March 2017 under its new Jio Happy New Year Offer (JNO).

The company also announced that Jio has already reached 50 million subscribers since its launch, which makes it among the fastest growing tech companies in the world.

Under its new Jio Happy New Year Offer, Reliance Jio will be offering free data and calls to all its new subscribers who become a part of the network from December 3rd onwards. However, to ensure optimum performance, Reliance will be offering only 1GB of free high-speed LTE data on a daily basis to its subscribers under this plan. Once the 1GB limit is exhausted, the speeds will be reduced to 128Kbps. Jio subscribers who are currently under the company’s Welcome Offer plan will continue to enjoy up to 4GB of high-speed data on a daily basis. Post 31st December, they will be automatically switched to the JNO plan and can enjoy free data until 31st March 2017.

Reliance is also offering two data packs to its customers who want to renew their high-speed data post the expiration of their 1GB free allowance. For Rs 51, the company is offering 1GB of LTE data with a 1-day validity, while for Rs 301, it is offering 6GB of additional high-speed LTE data for 28 days.

Jio says that 8o percent of its current subscribers use around 1GB of data on a daily basis, so the 1GB daily cap is good enough for them. The company says that it has announced this new offer as it is not happy with its existing network and interconnection issues from incumbent operators. It is hoping by 31st March it will be able to solve these issues and offer excellent quality of service to its subscribers.
