Reliance Jio today unveiled its new ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan’ plans after TRAI forced the operator to remove its ‘Summer Surprise’ tariff plans. The new plans from Jio have led to a lot of confusion among existing Jio users, especially among Jio Prime offers.
With the sheer number of plans, recharges, and terms and conditions applicable on Jio’s offering that one needs to follow to get the full benefits, it can get quite confusing to decipher Jio’s tariff plans. Many non-Jio Prime members are also wondering if the new plans offer the same benefits the ‘Summer Surprise’ tariff plans or are actually worse in some regards.
If you are confused by Jio’s new tariff plans and offerings and are wondering if you are eligible for their new ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan’ plans or not, check out our FAQ below that should help you out.
Q) I am NOT a Jio Prime member. So am I eligible for the new Jio ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan’ tariff plans?
A) Irrespective of whether you are or are not a Jio Prime member, Reliance Jio’s new ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan’ tariff plans are eligible for all Jio subscribers — new or old who are NOT already on previous Summer Surprise plans.
Q) Is there any difference between the Summer Suprise and Dhan Dhana Dhan tariff plans? Which one is better?
A) Both tariff plans are almost exactly the same. You pay (almost) the same amount and get the same data allowance on both tariff plans.
The only difference between the two scehemes is that Reliance offered higher data recharge options under its Summer Surprise package, while its Dhan Dhana Dhan plans are limited to only 2.
Q) When does the Dhan Dhana Dhan tariff plan go into effect?
A) The plans will be applicable from April 15 and one recharge will be valid for 3 months.
Q) I had already subscribed to Jio Prime and did a recharge of Rs 303 or any other value with a higher data bundle. Will that plan continue? Or do I need to recharge again?
A) If you are already a Jio Prime member and recharged your number with a Summer Surprise plan, you will continue to be on the same plan for the next three months. This should not be a cause of concern since the new Dhan Dhana Dhan and Summer Surprise tariff plans are largely the same.
Q) Do existing Prime members get any additional benefit under Dhan Dhana Dhan tariff plans?
A) Sadly, no.
Q) What are the available plans under Jio’s ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan’ package?
A) Essentially, there are two plans under Jio’s Dhan Dhana Dhan package: 1GB per day and 2GB per day. Both plans have a validity of 3 months. The 1GB/day plan costs Rs 309 for existing Prime members, while the 2GB/day plan costs Rs 509.
If you are a new Jio subscriber or are NOT a Jio Prime member, you will have to pay Rs 309 + Rs 99 i.e. Rs 408 for the 1GB/day plan. Similarly, the 2GB/day plan will cost you Rs 608 (Rs 509 + 99).

Q) I am already a Jio Prime member but did not do any other recharge. Are the ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan’ plans applicable for me? If yes, how much do I need to pay?
A) For existing Jio Prime members without any other recharge on their numbers, the Dhan Dhana Dhan plans cost almost the same as the Summer Surprise tariff plans. This means that to get 1GB of free data/day, you will have to recharge your number with Rs 309, while to get 2GB of free data per day, you will have to recharge your number with Rs 509.
Both plans will come into effect on April 15 and last for 3 months.
Q) I had the Rs 149 + Prime membership recharge done earlier on my Jio number. Can I avail the benefits of the Dhan Dhana Dhan plan by doing a recharge of one of the plans?
A) Yes, you can recharge with Rs 309 or Rs 509 to get the benefits of the Dhan Dhana Dhan plans.
Q) What happens to my Jio SIM if I don’t recharge with either Summer Surprise or Dhan Dhana Dhan plans?
A) If you don’t recharge your Jio number by April 15, Jio will automatically disable your number after a stipulated amount of time.
Q) Where can I do the Dhan Dhana Dhan recharge for my Jio number?
A) On Reliance Jio’s website. It has not yet been updated with the new tariff plans, but it should be within the next few hours.
