Samsung Galaxy Note 7

Last word on the street was that Samsung was planning on rolling out its refurbished Galaxy Note 7 units before the end of June.

That does not look like it’s going to be happening, though, as June wraps up this week. So, The Wall Street Journal is here to stoke the fire a bit. The publication states that Samsung is planning on launching a refurbished Galaxy Note 7 “Fandom Editon” (Galaxy Note 7 FE) in South Korea on July 7. The report also states that Samsung will have at the most 400,000 devices for the three major wireless carriers in the region, and that it will be priced below 700,000 KRW (about $614 USD).

As it stands right now, Samsung is also allegedly ready to bring the Galaxy Note 7 FE to other carriers in other regions, too, but there’s no word on when that might happen, or just how many devices it has ready to go. The refurbished handset will also reportedly have different components under the hood, but what, exactly, will be different remains unknown.

For what it’s worth, Samsung has also said it will not be selling refurbished Galaxy Note 7 units in the United States at all, so that market isn’t an option.

It’s honestly strange to see Samsung going through so much work to relaunch the Galaxy Note 7. It would be strange with any device, considering the smartphone market pushes forward constantly, but it’s especially odd considering the fiery fate the Galaxy Note 7 faced last year. But apparently the company sees a market ready for the return of the GN7.
