Earlier this week, Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi Note 6 Pro in India. At first glance, the Redmi Note 6 Pro might look similar to the Redmi Note 5 Pro but it actually packs a number of hidden and little-known enhancements and upgrades. Check out the top hidden features of the Redmi Note 6 Pro here.

The Redmi Note 6 Pro went on sale in India from November 23rd, with Xiaomi selling 600,000 units in the first very sale. If you plan on buying the Redmi Note 6 Pro, check out our FAQ here. For now, check out the top hidden features of the Redmi Note 6 Pro below.

Best Redmi Note 6 Pro Hidden Features

5. Quick Charge 3.0 Support

This is a big one. The Redmi Note series is finally getting proper Quick Charge support. The Redmi Note 6 Pro supports Quick Charge 3.0 which means one can charge the device to almost 50 percent in just 30 minutes. Given that the device comes with a beefy 4,000mAh battery, that’s no small feat.

Quick Charge 3.0

There’s one catch though: Xiaomi does not bundle a Quick Charge 3.0 wall adapter with the Redmi Note 6 Pro. It continues to bundle a 5V/2A charger with the device which means one will have to spend extra to enjoy quick charging functionality.

On the positive side, Xiaomi itself sells a Quick Charge 3.0 charger in India for as low as Rs 499 which is an absolute steal.

4. Splash-Resistant

The Redmi Note 6 Pro is the first Note device from Xiaomi to feature splash-resistance. This does not mean that the device will survive being dunked in water but one can use it without worrying about any kind of damage while stuck in rain.

Do note that Xiaomi’s standard warranty does not cover liquid damage so you will have to pay for any repairs for your Redmi Note 6 Pro due to liquid damage.

3. AI Mode

The Redmi Note 6 Pro is all about its improved dual-camera setup. But Xiaomi has not just improved the hardware, it has also improved the camera. The camera app of the Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with an AI mode that automatically recognizes the scene and enhances the overall photo. It boosts color, saturation, and makes other tweaks to a photo to make it look more lively.

Unlike Huawei, Xiaomi’s AI mode is actually pretty restrained and does a pretty good job of making photos look more stunning.

2. LED Notification

Despite the switch to a notched LCD panel and slimmer bezels, Xiaomi continues to include a notification LED on the Redmi Note 6 Pro. When compared to the Redmi Note 5 Pro, the LED notification on the Redmi Note 6 Pro has been moved to the top. It is now hidden in the notch at the top of the display.

The notification LED is pretty dim though and it would be hard to spot in daylight. It is also a single color LED (white) so one cannot customize its color for different notifications.

1. Wi-Fi Passthrough

One of the cool new features in Redmi Note 6 Pro is Wi-Fi Passthrough. The feature allows one to share the Wi-Fi network to which their Redmi Note 6 Pro is connected with to other devices. This can come in handy when you connect your Redmi Note 6 Pro to a public or hotel Wi-Fi network and want to share the same network with your other devices.

The feature is pretty simple to use as well. Once you connect your Redmi Note 6 Pro to a Wi-Fi network, simply enable the Mobile Hotspot functionality and proceed to connect your devices to it.
