Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi today launched the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro in India. Despite dominating the Indian smartphone market, XIaomi is launching its flagship phones in India after a couple of years.
The Redmi K20 and K20 Pro were initially unveiled back in May in China. Both phones are performance and gaming-oriented in nature, though they differ enough to cater to a different set of audiences.
Redmi K20 Pro
The K20 Pro is Redmi’s flagship smartphone. It features a 6.39-inch FHD+ 19.5:9 AMOLED display with 600-nit brightness. There’s no notch on the display and it features a 91.9 percent screen-to-body ratio with 2.1mm slim bezels.
The phone features a 3D curved design, with the black variant featuring a kevlar pattern and the blue and red variant featuring a flame pattern.
The K20 Pro is powered by Snapdragon 855, Adreno 640 GPU, and packs 6/8GB RAM, 64/128GB UFS 2.1 storage, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C, 3.5mm headphone jack. For better cooling, Xiaomi says it is using an 8-layer 3D graphite sheet.
The rear of the K20 Pro houses a triple-camera setup. This includes Sony’s 48MP shooter with f/1.75 aperture, 8MP telephoto lens with 1.12um large pixels and f/2.4 aperture, and a 13MP 124.8-degree ultra-wide sensor with f/2.4 aperture. At the front, there’s a 20MP f/2.0 pop-up selfie shooter.
The 8th generation in-display fingerprint scanner is not only faster and more accurate but it also features a 15 percent larger recognition area. The phone is powered by a 4000mAh battery and features 27W fast charging which can charge it to 58 percent in just 30 minutes.
Redmi K20
The Redmi K20 is essentially the same phone as the K20 Pro but with cut down internals to achieve a lower price point. It features a Snapdragon 730G chipset clocked at 2.2GHz along with an Adreno 618 GPU. While it also comes with a 4000mAh battery, it only has 18W fast charging support.
The Redmi K20 Pro is priced at Rs 27,999 for the 6GB + 128 GB variant, with the 8GB RAM + 256GB variant priced at Rs 30,999.
The Redmi K20 is priced at Rs 21,999 and Rs 23,999 for two storage variants.
