Yesterday, a video hit the internet with a glimpse of new color options (red, orange, green, blue, yellow, and three others) for the Nexus 5 on Google’s website, but it seemed like a rather noticeable fake that wasn’t worth taking seriously. Well, turns out it might not have been a complete hoax, as today a photo of a red Nexus 5 has cropped up, lending a fair deal of credence to the possibility of the Nexus 5 appearing with new paint jobs soon. This red Nexus 5 will apparently hit the Vietnamese market sometime in February or March, and will also be accompanied by a yellow model. Now, it’s possible what we’re seeing is simply a Nexus 5 wearing a very thin case, but the red Nexus 5 pictured does appear to be the real deal, with the color matching that of the red bumper case for the phone that’s officially sold by Google. Google’s been launching quite colorful accessories for its devices lately, so it’s certainly not far-fetched to think that the company’s phones could also start appearing in more than just the now stale black and white color variations.
As usual, it would be best to remain skeptic until more believe leaks rear their face, but if you’ve been wanting to grab Google’s latest and most powerful Nexus, it would be a good idea to wait just a few more weeks. Or, you know, you could just order one of those Nexus 5 bumpers and be done with it. Your choice.
