Regardless of what you think about the HTC One versus Samsung Galaxy S4 war currently taking place in Android forums all over the internet, you have to admit that HTC’s phone is one incredibly gorgeous piece of kit. When the device launched, the company said it would be available in two colors: aluminum and black aluminum. HTC’s global website said a third color existed, red, but we haven’t heard anything about the red One for months.
Now, thanks to Android Community, it looks like the red HTC One does indeed exist, and it’s going to come out in the UK. It’ll cost you a hair over 500 GBP, which is $780, but hey, there’s a price to pay for style. The rest of the phone is the same. You’ve got a 4.7 inch 1080p LCD, Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 clocked at 1.7 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, and a controversial “UltraPixel” camera.
Where do I stand on the whole One v. GS4 debate? Samsung has proven to me that they support their devices. If I were to buy a GS4 today, it’ll likely get software updates for at least 18 months, probably even 24 months. The same can’t be said about HTC. Also, I know various people who own the One, and while they all love it, they do complain about battery life.
Reminder: I’m on a Note II, so I don’t have to worry about battery life. Moving to a One means I’ll have to start remembering to charge my phone every night. I often forget to.
