Qualcomm today revealed some key details about its next generation GPU and ISP that will be making their way inside its Snapdragon 820 chipset.
The company claims that the new Adreno and Spectra camera ISP on the Snapdragon 820 will “bring significant performance, power efficiency, and user experience advances.” The company’s next high-end chipset will come with an Adreno 530 GPU, which will be up to 40% faster than Adreno 430, whilst consuming 40% less power. Based on a completely new architecture, the GPU will deliver improved graphics and compute performance compared to its predecessor.
Qualcomm will also be using an Adreno 510 GPU on its mid-range Snapdragon 620 and 618 chipsets.
Another highlight of the Snapdragon 820 chipset will be Qualcomm’s new Spectra camera ISP. This dual-ISP will support 14-bit sensors “for a wider range of colors and more natural skin tones.” It will also feature support for hybrid autofocus and multi-sensor fusion algorithms for next generation computational photography.
In the end, the company reveals that its next generation Snapdragon 820 chipset will be making its way inside Android devices in the first half of 2016.
