We have had a pretty eventful week so far with the launch of several new smartphones and tablets. While manufacturers like Lenovo, Huawei and others had several devices to show off, it’s the biggies like Samsung, Nokia, LG and Sony that made all the noise. And in order to make it easier to keep track of your favorite smartphones, we have compiled a little list with their announced or rumored launch date as well as pricing. Read on for the details.
Samsung Galaxy S5
The Samsung Galaxy S5 was one of the biggest announcements of MWC, making it one of the hotly anticipated devices in the industry. The smartphone is expected to break cover on April 11 in a wide range of global markets including the U.S. Although Samsung hasn’t provided official information on the pricing yet, the manufacturer is believed to be working with carriers and retailers around the world to decide on a proper pricing pattern. Initial reports suggest that it won’t be as high as expected given the slightly underwhelming specs sheet.
Sony Xperia Z2
The Japanese manufacturer will bring the Xperia Z2 to European and Asian markets by April for an estimated price of €650 with some countries like Sweden stretching the price all the way up to €800. The smartphone is also expected to arrive via T-Mobile in the U.S. for an off-contract price of $600. Sony will reportedly begin the rollout of the smartphone by early April.
Nokia X, Nokia X+ and the Nokia XL
The Nokia X will launch in the coming weeks in a few markets while the Nokia X+ and the Nokia XL will launch in Q2. Pricing has been set at €89, €99 and €109 respectively, which means the most expensive variant won’t set you back by more than $150.
LG G Pro 2 and the G2 mini
The LG G Pro 2 and the G2 mini were announced even before the MWC event began, so their existence was no mystery for us. LG showed off the two devices extensively at MWC, accompanied by detailed hands-on videos to give us a better idea of their functioning. LG is yet to give away international pricing or launch details for the G Pro 2, but it’s immediately available in Korea with other markets to follow subsequently. The G2 Mini however will break cover in Russia in March, followed by Asia, Europe, Latin Americas and the Middle East later this year. Pricing details haven’t been disclosed yet.
HTC Desire 816 and the Desire 610
HTC wasn’t too far behind either as the manufacturer announced the Desire 610 and the Desire 816 smartphones during the company’s dedicated event on Monday. Both are midrange offerings and will be launched in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Latin Americas. Considering that both smartphones pack midrange hardware, the pricing shouldn’t be over $400 at launch. All we know is that the Desire 610 will launch in May in Asia and other global markets with pricing slated to be announced at a later date.
