Why trust Greenbot
As expected, Pantech announced their new flagship smartphone today. Now I know what you’re thinking, why am I writing about Pantech? Two reasons. First, Samsung owns a 10% stake in the company. Two, people I talk to privately say both Samsung and LG often rip-off the software features Pantech comes up with. With all that in mind, let’s take a look at the “Vega LTE-A”.
We’ve seen high-end phones get bigger and bigger over time, but 5.6 inches stands out to me. It’s obviously bigger than Samsung’s 5 inch GS4, obviously bigger than LG’s Optimus G Pro, and it’s even bigger than the Note II. Does this mean next year’s phones will use a similarly sized panel? I don’t know.
As for the rest of the device, the Snapdragon 800 under the hood is a given. Everyone is going to use that chip later this year. Sony is already using it with the Z Ultra, LG will put it in the G2, Samsung will put it in the Note III, and so on and so forth.
And besides the inclusion of a fingerprint scanner, there simply aren’t any more specs to share. This product launch definitely isn’t as flashy as the one bestowed upon the Vega Iron. Maybe we’ll hear more about the Vega LTE-A once SK Telecom starts selling it?
