Oppo Reno official

Before the end of March, there was a leaked image of the Oppo-branded Reno smartphone, showcasing a handset with a very unique pop-out camera design. Now, the handset is officially official.

Oppo has unveiled its Reno smartphone this week, taking the wraps off one of the more unique options out there. That wedge pop-up camera features a 16-megapixel front-facing camera, along with a flash as well. The smartphone manufacturer says it has tested the Reno’s camera design to work more than 200,000 times, so owners shouldn’t nee to be concerned about it failing on them while they own it.

There are two variants of the Reno. The first features a larger 6.6-inch AMOLED display with a 2340×1080 resolution. There is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor tucked inside, along with a 4065mAh battery, and a microSD card slot for expandable storage. It features 6GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage in the base model, but it can be customized with 6GB RAM and 256GB of storage or 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Around back, there is a triple camera setup. The main shooter is 48 megapixels, while the 13-megapixel camera is a telephoto lens. And, finally, there is an 8MP super wide angle lens shooter as well.

The other Reno features a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a 2340×1080 resolution. The battery measures in at 3765mAh, there isn’t a microSD card slot for expandable storage, and the handset features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor. It offers the same RAM/storage options as the larger model, though.

There are two cameras on the back of this other variant, starting with the 48MP main camera. The additional shooter is a 5-megapixel shooter meant to handle depth of field.

The larger variant of the Reno will cost around $595, or 3999 yuan. The other model is priced at $447, or about 2999 yuan.
