Early this month, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei wrote an open letter to Samsung asking them to allow him to intern for them. Samsung, however, did not reply to Carl’s letter, which has led the company to start its new #TakeTheEdgeOff campaign.
The company indirectly mocks Samsung by saying that it keeps its devices “free from gimmicks and bloatware.” It further states that it explores “fresh and exciting” new technology, as opposed to recycling the same technology every year.
On the basis of the above reasons, OnePlus is giving 50 owners of Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, and Galaxy Note 5 an opportunity to trade in their Next Big Thing for a OnePlus 2. OnePlus will be donating these smartphones to Hope Phones, a non-profitable organisation that aims to bring medical technology to those who are in need.
Now, for a smartphone that costs less than $400, the OnePlus 2 sure is a fine phone. However, in key areas like display and camera, it is still a few notches below the flagship Galaxy devices from Samsung. If you have already spent your hard earned money on a flagship device from Samsung, it makes almost no sense for you to trade it in for a OnePlus 2, unless you really are frustrated with TouchWiz.
