The next OnePlus smartphone will also feature a QHD+ 90Hz AMOLED display. And despite that, it will have a more affordable price tag than the $669 OnePlus 7 Pro.
The $669 price tag of the OnePlus 7 Pro surprised many. While the phone still packed plenty of bang for the buck and undercut its competition by a couple of hundred dollars, it was no longer affordable. It looks like OnePlus has realized that and will be adjusting the price of the OnePlus 7T Pro.
In an email interview with CNET, OnePlus founder and CEO Pete Lau confirmed the next product is in the works, adding that it will be more “affordable” than the company’s current OnePlus 7 Pro, which starts at $669.
OnePlus is due to unveil the OnePlus 7T and the OnePlus 7T Pro later this month at a special event in India. It is possible that Lau is referring to the OnePlus 7T here. The phone will get a major upgrade this time around and sport a 2K 90Hz AMOLED display. Other upgrades include a triple-camera setup at the rear, Warp Charge 30, and an in-display fingerprint scanner.
There will also be a OnePlus 7T Pro which will feature a faster Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. However, the phone is not expected to get any other hardware upgrades. OnePlus could launch this phone at the same price as the OnePlus 7 Pro or lower it by a small margin. That should help make the OnePlus 7T Pro an even more attractive offering than the OnePlus 7 Pro. OnePlus will also launch a McLaren edition of the handset just like it did with the OnePlus 6T last year.
