When OnePlus officially announced the OnePlus 5T, it did so with only one color option: Midnight Black.
But if you live in China, you get at least one more color to choose from. Revealed today, OnePlus has made the Lava Red OnePlus 5T official. As you can surmise from the name, this variant of the flagship handset includes a red color scheme, which is present along the sides and on the back of the phone. The front of the handset has minimized black bezels.
This particular variant of the OnePlus 5T also has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage, so it’s not the base model you’ll be picking up. When it goes on sale in China it will retail for ¥2999, or about $455. There is no word at the moment whether or not OnePlus plans on bringing the Lava Red OnePlus 5T to any other market outside of China.
The rest of the handset is the same as the standard OnePlus 5T, but the color scheme will certainly help to make the device stand out in a crowd. It looks like it’s a pretty bright red, for better or worse. And ultimately having more than one color scheme for customers to choose from is a good thing, so it will be interesting to see if OnePlus does decide to launch the Lava Red variant of the OnePlus 5T in other markets.
If you could pick one up, would you buy the red OnePlus 5T? What do you think of the color scheme?
