OnePlus today announced that due to the declining Euro, they will be increasing the price of the OnePlus One in Europe.
The company currently sells the 16GB Silk White and 64GB Sandstone Black OnePlus One for €269 and €299, respectively. However, from March 25 onwards, the 16GB Silk White variant will retail for €299 and the 64GB Sandstone Black variant will retail for €349.
Most companies insured themselves against the volatile value of the Euro by pricing their devices higher. However, OnePlus was not interested in doing this when they launched the One last year in Europe, as they wanted to stick to their commitment of maintaining razor-thin margins to give their consumers the most value.
Nonetheless, the falling value of the euro has eaten into the razor-thin profits for OnePlus, and the company is currently selling its devices at a loss in the EU region, which is why it is increasing the prices of the handset.
To make it fair to its consumers, the company will be increasing the price of the handset from March 25 (i.e. next Tuesday), so interested customers in the EU region still have a week to purchase the handset at its older price tag.
