Why trust Greenbot
The 2016 flagship killer, OnePlus 2, has been torn down by the folks over at iFixit thereby revealing all its internals.
The teardown reveals that unlike its predecessor, OnePlus have made less use of glue and more use of screws to keep the 2016 flagship killer in one piece. In fact, removing the protective back cover itself required the iFixit team to remove 18 screws first, which then gave them access to the 3,300mAh battery of the device in OnePlus’ signature red color.
The teardown also reveals that the OnePlus 2 features an OmniVision camera sensor on the front and back. The rear 13MP sensor also features 1.3u pixels — the largest in its class — which should help in improving its low-light performance.
In the end, iFixit gives the OnePlus 2 a repairability score of 7 out of 10. It notes that despite multiple warnings from OnePlus. the battery on the OnePlus 2 can be easily replaced, though it does require dismantling the phone. Additionally, the website notes that most of the components used inside the handset are modular in nature, which means that they can be easily repaired. The display, however, is glued to the midframe and front glass, which will make replacing it tough and costly.
