After ignoring the OnePlus 2 since rolling out its Marshmallow update earlier this year, OnePlus today commenced the roll out of Oxygen OS 3.1.0 for the handset.

The latest version of OxygenOS fixes quite a few bugs and also comes with the August 1st security patch and Quadrooter patch for enhanced security.

The full change-log of the update is as follows:

  • Fixed some notification issues
  • Improved Doze Mode performance
  • Added media sound toggle for alert slider
  • Addressed alert slider/silent mode issue
  • Implemented August 1 security patches for Android
  • Implemented Quadrooter patch
  • General bug fixes

It is disappointing to see OnePlus only include the partial August security patch from Google when it could have easily added the second one as well. The update is being rolled out incrementally so it will not show up immediately on your OnePlus 2.

OnePlus has been rolling out quite a few software updates for the OnePlus 3 since it launched the handset a couple of months ago, but the company has been neglecting its previous handsets like the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X. While the OnePlus is at least running on Marshmallow, the OnePlus X continues to run on Lollipop. A community build of Marshmallow for the OnePlus X does exist, but it is unclear when OnePlus plans on rolling out the final build of the OS for all users.
