The arrival of the HTC One Mini 2 has been hinted at for some time now. But this new revelation from @evleaks pretty much confirms its imminent launch. What we have here is a press image of the upcoming mini phone from the Taiwanese manufacturer. Although it looks quite similar to the One M8, we feel the similarities will only be limited to the design and not the internal hardware.
The leak shows the device in all the three colors that the One M8 was launched in (Gunmetal Gray, Glacial Silver and Amber Gold), so nothing appears to be different as far as color options go.
The smartphone is expected to feature a 4.5 inch 720p display, a quad core 1.4 GHz Snapdragon 400 chipset, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage with an expandable microSD card slot, a 13-megapixel single lens camera accompanied by a 5-megapixel portrait shooter and Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Sense 6.0 and onscreen navigation buttons like the One M8. With the frequency of leaks increasing each day, we should expect an announcement sometime soon, although the company hasn’t scheduled an event as of yet.
We’re guessing HTC doesn’t want its mini device to be too similar to the flagship it is selling, which is why we’re seeing such a disparity in hardware between the two devices despite the similarity in names. Perhaps HTC could take a leaf out of Sony’s books and launch mini devices with hardware comparable to its high end offerings.
