HTC has been doing a terrible job at keeping their first phablet, the One Max, a secret. For those who haven’t been on top of the rumors, the One Max is essentially a 5.9 inch version of the HTC One. Same design, same internals, and about the only thing different other than the larger panel is the inclusion of a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device. Last night, someone out of the US state of New Jersey shared some photos on the Android Central forum of a Verizon branded One Max.
Now this isn’t the first time we’ve seen the phone, but it is actually the first time we’ve seen it on American shores. While that’s not indicative of an impending launch, one has got to think that the device is being shown to store managers and employees so they have somewhat of an idea what they’ll be selling later this year.
When will and when should the One Max launch? If they unveil it before the Nexus 5, then it’ll be forgotten. If they unveil it after the Nexus 5, then they face not marketing the device enough before that critical shopping day in the United States known as Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. It’ll probably cost $299 on contract, putting it up against the Note 3 from Samsung, and you don’t need me to tell which device I think is better.
