Nvidia SHIELD owners, the Lollipop update for your tablet has arrived. The company has already started rolling out the OTA update for the Wi-Fi variant of the tablet, and is waiting for carrier approval before it can rollout the LTE variant’s update.

Nvidia’s flavour of Lollipop on the SHIELD tablet is as close to stock Android as possible. The company has only added slight usability enhancements, including support for its Direct Stylus and a tweaked Quick Settings. Nvidia has also given its SHIELD Hub app a makeover and merged its Grid beta app with it — allowing SHIELD tablet owners to easily find games that they can play on their tablet or stream from their PC on it.

With this rollout, The SHIELD tablet becomes the first non-Nexus tablet to receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Nvidia has constantly demonstrated that it wants to stay on top of the software update cycle by quickly releasing updates for its devices.

If you are looking to buy a Nexus 9 but it is a little to pricey for you, the Nvidia SHIELD tablet is worth a look as it offers a similar experience and performance in a smaller package and at a lower price point.
