Google-Tap-to-Now

Google’s Now on Tap has not exactly turned out to be a success as the company had hoped for. Now, in a bid to make the feature more useful, the company has rolled out two new rows of cards for it that increase its usefulness.

These two rows of cards are for nearby places and for quickly creating a new reminder, event, alarm, or navigating to home. Usually, these shortcuts and command inputs are entered in the Google Search app, and essentially these new cards are shortcuts to the Google Search app with the same query. Nonetheless, Google is trying to increase the relevance of Now on Tap by adding these shortcut to them and it might come in useful for people who continue using Now on Tap.

Now on Tap- new cards

Tapping on any of the shortcuts will take you to the Google Search app from where you can be taken to the relevant app, if you tap on the result shown. These new rows of cards will only show up when you trigger Now on Tap from the home screen though.

Google recently added image and word search recognition to Now on Tap to make it more useful.

This update seems to be a server side change from Google. Are you seeing the two new row of cards in Now on Tap? If yes, do you think they are useful? Or have you given up on Now on Tap altogether?
