Nokia X

China’s largest online retail outlet, JD.com has reportedly sold all stocks of the Nokia X within four minutes. The smartphone was available for purchase starting from 10 AM local time yesterday and the retailer was out of inventory by 10:04 AM, speaking volumes about the demand for the smartphone.

The Nokia X surpassed 1 million pre-registrations a couple of weeks ago, so it’s only natural that the demand for the smartphone is this high.

While this new revelation is certainly good news for Nokia, the retailer hasn’t given out specifics as to how many devices were actually sold. This would be a good indicator of the demand for the device, but we’re guessing Nokia wouldn’t want to disclose that as of yet. But reports have suggested that the retailer only got about 10,000 units of the Nokia X initially.

With a price tag of 599 CNY or $97, the smartphone has clearly appealed to the masses in China. The handset is also available in several other countries across Asia and Europe with a similar price tag. It will be interesting to see if Nokia is able to keep this sales form consistent in the coming days.
