Ever since Nokia has relaunched itself under HMD Global, the company has promised speedy Android updates for its devices. The company has so far consistently rolled out monthly security patches for its devices within hours or days of Google releasing it for its Pixel devices. Now, sticking to its promise of speedy Android updates, Nokia has launched an Android 8.0 Oreo beta program for the Nokia 8.
Dubbed Nokia Betalabs, the company is looking to provide advanced users with an early access to the Oreo update for the Nokia 8 and other devices so that they can be thoroughly tested before a wider public release. The Oreo update will bring new features like Picture-in-Picture, Notification Dots, Autofill, faster boot up times, and more to the handset.
All phones released by Nokia so far have been running a stock build of Android 7.1 Nougat, with the company also providing them with monthly security patches. By rolling out a beta build of Oreo for Nokia 8, the company is at least quenching the thirst of advanced users who were itching to get a taste of Oreo on their device. Nokia also plans to include the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 to its beta labs program at a later date as well.
