Nokia 8 1 plus renderleak

The notch had a good run in 2018, but Android device manufacturers have already had their funwith that design choice and are moving on to other options.

We’ve seen the hole punch design from the likes of Samsung, Huawei, Motorola, and others, and now it appears that Nokia is ready to jump on that bandwagon, too. 91mobiles and @OnLeaks have put together new renders of what’s expected to be called the Nokia 8.1 Plus. The handset looks a lot like the standard 8.1, but with the primary change being the small cutout in the top corner of the screen for the front-facing camera.

Meanwhile, the renders reveal that the upcoming handset will have a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB-C port, and a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device. There is Android One branding as well, so it sounds like we’ll see a new Nokia-branded Android One smartphone announced later this year.

That means this won’t be a high-end flagship smartphone, but rather a low-end or mid-range device. That should also mean that we shouldn’t expect the price tag to be too high, either. Still, neither Nokia or HMD Global have announced anything about the 8.1 Plus quite yet, so we’ll have to wait and see how the release date works, where it’s going to be available, and just how much it will cost.

What do you think of the design of the 8.1 Plus?
