Nintendo has a long history with games, and many have been waiting for the company to jump into the mobile industry for a long time. That time has arrived.
In March of this year, it was announced that Nintendo would be partnering up with DeNA Studios to bring new games to mobile devices.
While Nintendo already has mobile gaming consoles in the 3DS lineup, many have been clamoring for the company to bring its titles, like Mario, Zelda, Metroid, and many others to the smartphone games market. And when Nintendo finally announced plans to do just that, the wait to see what that would look like has been long. But it’s finally coming to an end.
According to a report published by The Wall Street Journal, Nintendo is planning on unveiling its first true smartphone game on Thursday, October 29. What that game will be, though, remains a mystery. Nintendo has managed to keep the game under deep, deep wraps, which is a victory in and of itself, considering how leaky the smartphone industry is as a whole.
This is just the first of many games planned by Nintendo and DeNA. Specifically, by March 2017, there should be five games released for mobile devices.
Are you excited to see what Nintendo announces? Which landmark character do you think will be the first to arrive on mobile?
