Nintendo Switch is arguably one of the most popular handheld consoles right now. A developer group by the name ‘switchroot’ have ported Android to the Nintendo Switch and published documentation and installation guides. With the Android ROM in place, you can enjoy your favorite Android games on Nintendo switch without breaking a sweat.
The Nintendo Switch Android port can be installed after writing system image to SD card, download the apps and flash via TWRP. If you are already using modded Switch then the installation only becomes easier. The Android port is of LineageOS 15.1 which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
The modded Switch with Android seems to work well in handheld and docked mode. That apart there is also a ‘Shield-ifier’ mode which turns the Switch into Nvidia Shield and offers support for Nvidia Gamestream and exclusive gaming titles. That being said, the build still has some bugs that need to be ironed out.
Needless to say, installing Android on your Switch might ban you from online games. The download information including guides, documentation and system files can be found here. Nintendo recently announced that it has sold 34.74 million consoles and thus recorded a year-on-year growth of 12.7 percent. Nintendo Switch was announced in 2017 and is positioned as a hybrid console with directional analog sticks for input, motion sensing, and tactile feedback. Nintendo Switch games are available in both cartridge and digital form.
