Earlier this week, Google started rolling out the March security update for its Nexus devices. It turns out though, that the March security update for the Nexus 5X contains more than just some security patches.

The OTA update landing on the phone contains some performance and stability improvements, including a fix for the dreaded camera performance of the handset, which can get unusually slow sometimes.

Some of the fixes will help/address:

  • General slow/sluggish performance

  • DND next alarm disappearing issue

  • Bluetooth/WiFi improvements

  • Carrier-specific bug fixes

The above vague change-log was posted by the Nexus Community manager, but 5X owners who flashed the factory image on their handset report improved camera performance including faster autofocus times and less shutter lag.

The update carries the build number MHC19J, and despite coming with what looks like some major performance improvements, it does not come bump the Android version to 6.0.2.

If you have not already received the MHC19J OTA update on your Nexus 5X and cannot wait for the update, you can download and flash the factory image manually as well.
