That’s it. The LG manufactured Nexus 4, which recently got a price drop to $199 for the 8 GB model and $249 for the 16 GB model, is officially sold out in the US Google Play Store. According to a “trusted source” who spoke with The Verge, the search giant has absolutely zero intention of stocking additional units. So what does this mean? You know exactly what it means.
The next Nexus, the Nexus 5, is right around the corner. If the leaked specs are to be believed, it’ll have a 5.0 inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 800 under the hood, possibly the same 13 megapixel camera with optical image stabilization that’s found in the LG G2, and in case you missed it, yes, it’ll be made by LG.
Two obvious questions: When and how much? Everyone seems to be saying, though there’s some debate as to the actual date. That’s not really important. And as for the price, no one has the slightest clue, but I would personally be shocked to see the next Nexus sold for anything less than $399. I fully understand that Google doesn’t intend to make any money from Nexus hardware, but 1080p screens and Snapdragon 800 chips are not cheap.
And as for the software, of course it’ll run Android 4.4 KitKat, which we know absolutely nothing about except for the name. Let the waiting game begin, it’s going to be fun.
