Google has finally started rolling out the Android 5.1 OTA update for the Nexus 4. The update comes a month after Google had initially started rolling out Android 5.1 for the Nexus 6, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and the Nexus 10 in March.
Android 5.1 brings with it a bunch of bug fixes and performance improvements that greatly improve the experience of using Lollipop. You can find a detailed changelog of what’s new in Android 5.1 here.
The 177MB Android 5.1 update for Nexus 4 bumps the Android build number to ‘LMY74O,’ which is a newer build of Lollipop than what the Nexus 5, Nexus 6 and Nexus 10 are running on. Since the update is being rolled out in stages, it will take up to a couple of weeks to land on your device.
In case you cannot wait for the OTA update, you can always sideload the update manually on your handset, but your device needs to be in a complete stock/unrooted state for this.
Google is yet to rollout the Android 5.1 update for its flagship Android tablet, the Nexus 9, and the 2013 Nexus 7.
