When Nextbit initially announced the Robin, its cloud-focused smartphone, the only two versions available to initial backers were an AT&T and T-Mobile variant.
Now, just a couple of days after the campaign surpassed its $1 million Kickstarter goal, the company has just announced that it will add a Verizon Wireless-friendly version of the handset to its Kickstarter page for those that want to go the CDMA route. The pricing will stay the same, at $349 for a 32GB model, but there will be 300 Early Bird bids that can nab the new phone for just $299.
It will become available via the Kickstarter page beginning Friday, September 18.
Nothing is changing in the specifications department, other than network compatibility. So, here’s the breakdown as a refresher:
- Processor: Snapdragon 808
- Memory: 3GB RAM / 32 GB onboard / 100 GB online
- Screen: 5.2” IPS LCD 1080p
- Rear Camera: 13MP with phase detection autofocus, dual tone flash
- Front camera: 5MP
- Battery: 2680 mAh
- Dual front facing stereo speakers
- Fingerprint sensor
- NFC
- Quick charging
This is a pretty big step for Nextbit, considering Verizon is the largest provider in the United States, but it’s also good news for subscribers, too. It’s relatively rare for a small company, especially one as small as Nextbit, to get their phone launched on any CDMA-based network, but especially Verizon’s. Plus, the more options for people to buy the better.
Do you plan on backing a Verizon-friendly Robin?
