Nextbit Robin, the cloud based smartphone, today launched in India. The handset that started as a Kickstarter campaign will be  sold in India exclusively through Flipkart for Rs. 19,999.

The Robin stands out from other smartphones in the market with its unique design and cloud based approach. Powered by a Snapdragon 808 chipset and 3GB RAM, the Robin features a 5.2-inch Full HD display. Beside packing 32GB of storage space, the Robin also comes with 100GB of cloud based storage.

The handset smartly uses its cloud storage to save space on the handset, as it automatically backs up applications and their data to the cloud when they are not used for sometime. And when the user taps on one such app icon, the app is automatically downloaded from the cloud and restored to the handset.

The handset also comes with 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. Other notable specs include Wi-Fi b/g/b, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC, and a 2,680mAh battery. In India, the Robin will run on Marshmallow out of the box. The update enhances quite a bit of functionality of the phone, including its camera performance and battery life.

Oh, and if you don’t like the default OS that the handset is running on, you can always unlock the bootloader of the handset and install CyanogenMod 13 on it. Nextbit ensures that the handset’s warranty will not be voided.
