Sony’s going to hold a press conference in Berlin on September 4th where it’s widely believe that they’re going to announce their next flagship phone, the Xperia i1. We, the media, have been referring to this device by its codename, Honami, for several months now.

What’s going to make Honami special? It’s supposed to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800, have a 5 inch 1080p screen, 2 GB of RAM, an incredibly large (for its size) 3,000 mAh battery, and then there’s the camera: 20 megapixels, optical image stabilization, massive sensor.

We’ve seen several leaks of the device, but these latest ones from Gadget Helpline (via Android Central) have confirmed my deepest fears. Sony is going to pull an Apple/Samsung and recycle their design language. In other words, this phone that’s supposed to put the company back on the map is going to look like the incredibly disappointing Xperia Z that was launched back in January.

Those expecting something fresh, be warned.
