WhatsApp is on the verge of launching a new feature in select regions that allows users to craft personalized stickers from their own photographs—this AI-powered tool, presently in its testing phase, permits users to upload selfies, which are then processed by Meta AI to create custom stickers that resemble the user’s image.
This functionality has been spotted in the WhatsApp Beta for Android (version 2.24.14.7). To activate it, users can type “@Meta AI imagine me” in chat, which will place their photos in creative settings.
Meta is also scouting additional AI enhancements for WhatsApp, providing options for users to choose different Llama models for AI interactions. The Llama 3-405B model, designed to handle complex data, includes a weekly limit in terms of usage, which may be a sign that it will eventually bring out premium versions like that of ChatGPT.
As WhatsApp gears up to introduce this, other companies are also exploring personalized image creation. Apple has recently revealed its Image Playground feature in iMessage, allowing users to play with their images, while Google has also been working on an app called Creative Assistant, expected to launch with the upcoming Pixel 9 series, which will also allow users to create stickers using AI.
