New photos of the Galaxy Note 5 have leaked out ahead of the handset’s official unveiling, and they showcase an improved S Pen design that compliments the handset’s fancy new redesign. They also appear to rule out the auto-eject mechanism that some rumors have promised.

Obtained by NowhereElse, the images show an aluminum-tipped S Pen that nestles into the bottom of the Note 5 and sits flush with its metal frame. There is a small groove around one side of its bottom edge that allows the user to slide their fingerprint underneath the S Pen to pull it out.

This again rules out the rumored ejection system, which would have allowed users to press the tip of the S Pen slightly to have it pop out of its hole. But that could be a good thing; if you were to hit it accidentally in your pocket or in a bag, the S Pen could become dislodged inadvertently and then lost.

These photos also confirm that the Note 5 will be much like the Galaxy S6 in terms of physical design, which a curved aluminum frame sandwiched between two sheets of Gorilla Glass 4. Some reports say the handset’s glass back will be curved, but that’s not proven in these pictures, unfortunately.

Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Note 5 alongside the Galaxy S6 edge+ in mid-August to beat Apple’s next-generation iPhones to market. In addition to its new design, the handset is expected to come with a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, Samsung’s new Exynos 7422 processor, and a 16-megapixel camera.
