Disclosure

According to a Japanese site that’s behind a paywall, but luckily another Japanese site has copy and pasted the relevant information, the next Nexus 7 is going to come out by the end of July. It’ll be called the “new Nexus 7”, and it’ll have a 1920 x 1200 pixel screen from AUO, it’ll use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Pro (not the 600, as previously believed), and it’ll cost $229 for the 16 GB model.

Should you believe this new information? I honestly don’t know. I’m at that point where I don’t care about the leaks anymore and just want to read an official press release already. Why did I bother sharing this story then? Because that name is just too funny.

“New Nexus 7”

This isn’t the first time a company has done this. Remember when Apple called the third generation iPad “the new iPad”? That was embarrassing. Apparently Google doesn’t care about being embarrassed; why should they? A tablet with those specs for that price is an accomplishment.
