The OnePlus 6T launched not too long ago, and we recently saw the McLaren Edition, too. But work on new devices never ends for a company like OnePlus.
We may be getting a look at one of those devices coming down the pipe. An image was published online recently by Ishan Agarwal which reportedly shows off an upcoming OnePlus smartphone that is currently in the prototype stages. We can see the phone not only on the screen, but also in the hands of OnePlus CEO Pete Lau there on the right.
There is a distinct design change with this handset, removing the pill-shaped rear camera setup in current OnePlus-branded smartphones and opting for a bigger, circle camera housing. We can also see the “Never Settle” tagline on the mystery phone’s screen, and what appears to be the OnePlus logo there on the back of the device.
Unfortunately there isn’t a lot, or any, information to go along with the picture. We do know that OnePlus is working on a new 5G-capable smartphone that will launch in 2019. This could be that handset. The adoption of 5G support means companies are going to have to get a bit unique with smartphone design, and this new rear camera setup may be facilitating that change.
Or this could be something completely different.
Either way, what do you think of this prototype’s design?
