Last year along with the Moto X, Motorola had unveiled a novel new accessory — the Skip. The handy little NFC enabled clip had only function — to skip the pattern/PIN protection when the clip was tapped on the back of the user’s device.
Motorola is now all set to give Skip a major new revamp and transform it into a key fob with built-in Bluetooth. The new Skip will allow users to find their phone by simply pressing a button on it and to locate the fob and anything attached to it via their phone as well.
Lastly, it will also allow them to skip the protected lockscreen on their device if they are in the vicinity of it.
The new Skip will feature a user-replaceable battery that can last for up to one year in normal usage. The device itself will work with all Android devices running Android 4.3 or higher, though certain features will remain exclusive to Moto handsets only.
While the leaked documents of Skip don’t mention anything about its availability, I’d expect it to be unveiled at the company’s upcoming event in Chicago next month.
