Motorola, which is now owned by Lenovo, is no stranger to developing low- and mid-range handsets, which focus more on saving a few bucks for the consumer.
That trend appears to be continuing with a brand new lineup, which, according to VentureBeat, is meant to address first-time smartphone buyers. The new handsets are the Moto C and Moto C Plus, if the information gathered by the publication is correct, and there will be a few variants to choose from when the devices land on the market later this year.
First, there will be both a 3G and 4G option for the Moto C, with differing internals for each model to choose from in different regions. The Moto C will be available in either 8GB or 16GB models, with a microSD card slot available to expand storage. The Moto C will also offer a MediaTek processor under the hood: the 3G model clocked at 1.3GHz for the 32-bit variant, while the 4G option will reportedly have a 64-bit processor clocked at 1.1GHz. The display will measure in at 5 inches.
The battery in the Moto C is said to be measured in at 2350mAh, and the camera on the back is said to be a 5-megapixel shooter. There’s a 2MP front-facing camera, and the handset will be running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
Next, the Android C Plus changes some things up. The handset features the same 5-inch display, but it will offer 720p HD resolution. The MediaTek processor is a 64-bit chipset clocked at 1.3GHz, and it will have 16GB of built-in storage with a microSD card slot for good measure. It will be available with either 1GB or 2GB of RAM depending on the region where it’s available, and the battery will measure in at 4000mAh.
The Moto C Plus will run Android 7.0 Nougat, has an 8-megapixel camera on the back, and a 2MP front-facing camera.
Each of the Moto C devices will be available in a range of colors when they get released later this year. Unfortunately, whenever Motorola plans to announce these devices remains a mystery, as well as how much they will cost.
What do you think of the Moto C family?
